Obituary For Barbara Lou Cavenaugh

UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, the services will now be in the chapel at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.; there will not be a graveside service.

Barbara Lou Cavenaugh, 83, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020. A native of Jacksonville, she was the widow of Charles “Billy” Cavenaugh, having been married for 62 years and the daughter of the late Eldridge Marshburn and Carrie Wood Marshburn. She was an administrative assistant at Coastal Carolina Community College for over 20 years and taught painting classes as well; she truly was an artist using acrylic paint for her artwork. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens and attending Bethlehem Baptist Church. To know Barbara Lou, is to know that she loved to cook you food, feeding people made her happy! She was best known for her biscuits, collards, chicken and pastry. She is survived by her son, Charles Cavenaugh (Darrella) of Sims; daughter, Karen Morgan (Keith) and Sheryl Cunningham (John) both of Jacksonville; sister, Jean Mansel (Bill); grandchildren, Ken Baird, Heather Adams (Rich), Angie Williams (Markus), Ronald Hobbs (Carly), Brandy Ammons (DJ), Steven Cavenaugh, Mary Cavenaugh, Sarah (Robbie) Harvell, Lance Cavenaugh (Ashley) and Tucker Cavenaugh; several great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her son, Gregory Cavanaugh. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville. *Update* Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Harvell officiating. Burial will be private. Barbara Lou will be missed dearly by everyone who loved and knew her.     To the family Ma Barbara will surely be missed by all who came in contact with her. She was the most precious wife, mother, grandmother anyone could ever have. Ma Barbara you will forever be in my heart and I know that you are now rejoined in the great heaven with your beloved Pa Bill.     I never met her, but from what my brother Rich has said and from all the pictures on Facebook, I saw and felt the love. I am so grateful for her love and caring toward my brother Rich. I am so sorry for the loss of a wonderful woman. I still have the purse she made for me. She will be missed. Always in everyone,s heart. Cherish the memories.

    Aunt Barbara Lou was a giving person. I remember the table covered with food she had made when we came to visit. A kind heart and she will be missed dearly. I cannot begin to imagine the number of people she positively impacted by her kindness.
