Obituary For Catherine Howington Avant

Catherine Howington Avant, 56, of Sneads Ferry, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home. A native of Raleigh, she was the wife of Steven Avant for over 10 years and the daughter of the late Bob and Jean Melton. She worked at Comfort Inn as head of housekeeping. Catherine will be remembered most for how much she loved and cherished her children and her animals.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Katie, Cristie and Kerry Howington; brothers, Dale and Robert Melton; and grandchildren, Cambria Hill and Andbriell Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, April Melton.
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel of Jacksonville with Rev. Brian Young officiating.

Steve, Cristie, Katie and Kerry I would take away all of the pain you are enduring. Aunt Cathy is loved by so many. She touched lives she didn't even realize. Her struggles she face, she faced them no matter how tough. There is a Bible scripture that keeps my hopes up John 5:28,29 and Revelation 21,3,4, it gives us hope to see her in a new system of things at her healthiest. No more sickness, no more pain or suffering. I love you all very much.
