She was one of the kindest and most sincere Christians I have ever had the honor of knowing. She and Pierre understood the meaning of investing time in the lives of others. Her love of music, fellowship, and service are what I will always remember. She was a peacemaker, a motivator, and a person whose wisdom we were compelled by her actions to respect and listen to. Heaven has gained a great soul... and we have lost the presence of a glorious lamp of faith in our community.

I have fond memories of Fran from the time I was a middle school student in Kinshasa, DR Congo (then Zaire). She was the house mother of the Hostel and had the difficult task of keeping a dozen of adolescent boys and girls happy and on track with their academic work. She made sure the house ran smoothly and was always nice to all the employees. But what I remember the most is how caring and compassionate she was to the students. She always had time to listen to our problems, and had the right words to comfort us. A mom away from home, that's what Fran was us. I left Kinshasa after one year. But, I never forgot Fran and the impact she had on the boy I was. Prosper Boyaka

I can remember some years back when I served along side of Miss Fran, and Mr Pierre at First Christian church on gumbranch Rd, in Jacksonville NC. We served as elders and we're on the board together. She is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior rejoicing in her new body with no pain. Hallelujah to our Lord and Savior to bring His children home to him when they have completed their mission here on earth. She will be sorefully missed here, but rejoice in the knowledge that we will see her again when we get to see our Lord.

What a kind and wonderful woman Fran was. I worked with her at Coastal for many years. She was so caring and determined. Such a dear woman and friend.

Fran was & still is my amazing Aunt, my Momie, my Mentor, my Best Friend but mostly always my family. I remember her , Pierre & & Pierre Jr. Coming to Cincinnnati to visit from Chicago. Those were such wonderful times. She taught me strength , hope, love, tenacity for life. As she & I got older I learned so much about my family I didn't know! Forever asking questions about family history? She never complained always answered. She did ask why it was so important to me? I simply told her because its the roots of of family that makes us who we are! She was surprised as nobody else in the family asked but me! We talked everyday. I made time for her because I love her like a Mom. Her heart was so full of love, so forgiving so trusting. But I know that she is back home in heaven with God & her Family! I will miss you Momie but I know that you are in my heart!

I was Fran's across-the-street neighbor (North Carolina) for two years. She was very kind to my husband and me. My husband succumbed to cancer just before I left N.C. Twelve years ago I visited Fran with my daughter (who was an infant when Fran was my neighbor.) We had a lovely visit with Fran and Pierre. I will always remember Fran for her kind heart and genuineness. What a gift she was to all who knew her. I wish you peace as you grieve, Jeanine Brooks, Los Alamos, California

Fran Maloka was the woman who taught my husband and me French at Coastal Carolina nearly 30 years ago. She was the best college professor I ever had. She and Pierre attended my graduation from Campbell a few years later and we stayed in touch. She motivated me to continue towards completing my degree which I did long after many people.do. She was one of a kind. And I am so very glad our paths crossed. May God hold you in the palm of His Hand until we meet again ❤

Pierre, I stumbled upon your mothers Obituary while looking for another. I did not know your mother but your grandmother I did know, from the above comments I see she was very much like her. I want you to know you & your family are in my prayers, it is so hard to lose our mothers. With heartfelt sympathy, Mitzi

Fran Maloka was my best friend, teacher, mentor, a mother to me and eventually a grandma to my daughter. She was without a doubt the best person I've ever known my entire life. Kind, generous to a fault, honest, caring, forgiving, and faithful to God at all times. She taught me everything from parenting to how to properly fit a coffee filter in the basket, and everything in between. I can remember so many scenarios of times we were together and busted out laughing for the stupidest reasons. There were also many that involved several tears. I dedicated the song, "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion to Fran after I graduated from college which I could never have done without her and Pierre. I sang it to her from time to time through the years, or simply reminded her of it's title and meanings from me. She loved it! 🥰. I know that Fran is a permanent part of me, and every time I think of her it is as if she is right here with me. I will know her love until the end of my life, and I will do my best to bless others as she blessed me. One time I commented to her about never being able to give back to her as she had given for me, but she said that I can by doing the same for another. That was her heart. She gave with no expectations of anything in return whenever there was a need. She donated to charities monthly. She was, in my opinion, the most Christ-like soul of anyone I've ever met. Her soul is now free to home home to Jesus, and for that I cannot help but rejoice. I love Fran with all my heart and thank our Heavenly Father for the opportunity to have her in my life for the past 29 years. I also love and know the many people (friends and family) and I want you all to know that though I can't be at her funeral, you are all in my thoughts at this time. So many memories made together I cannot recall them all, but to you I say it was truly an honor to know and be loved by Fraulein Herta Jarman Maloka and thank you for sharing so much of yourselves with me over the years.

I knew her as a teenager, and she was my eighth grade teacher. It is with sorrow she has left us, but her reward is now a reality. God bless her family and friends.
