Obituary For Glendora Lanier Quinn

Glendora Lanier Quinn, 95, of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away on May 7. She was born December 30, 1927, in Duplin County, to the late Jack and Mamie Lanier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Jr. and Edwin Lanier. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, NC, and had recently been attending Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hickory.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Wednesday, 5/10/23, at 6pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 5 PM. A graveside service will be held at Onslow Memorial Park on Thursday, 5/11/23, at 11 am.

Glendora had worked at Bell South. She was also a teacher’s aide for many years at Thompson Elementary School in Jacksonville. Outside of her working career, she also proudly served as a volunteer with the Onslow Memorial Hospital auxiliary.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and a good friend to many. Glendora is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Benetta and Jack Turner, her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Susan Quinn, her daughter, Julienne Heitkemper, and her grandchildren, Cameron, Bradley and Holly Heitkemper, and Hannah (Eric) Hughes and Lucas Quinn.

Glendora loved all kinds of roses, so flowers are a lovely gift, but, as an alternative please consider giving to Carolina Caring hospice services in Catawba County.

    She was a wonderful lady and very giving. She would make Julie bacon and eggs every morning before school. Rick and I would have to go over and fix her remotes on the T. When she couldn't figure out how to do them.
