Obituary For Irna Ethlyne Daniels

Irna Ethlyne Daniels was born on March 31st, 1939 Batrica, Guyana, to the late Walter and Mildred Yonker Grant. She grew up in Batrica and Georgetown, where she completed primary and secondary school. Family and friends can best describe Irna as headstrong and independent. Her life embodied strength and a perseverance spirit in many ways, and she was known to light up a room with her joyous laughter. Irna entered the Guyana workforce, starting at Pasaila Brothers as a clerk. She worked for many years and then moved onto Banks D.I.H group of Companies in the food and restaurant industries. She served as a counter clerk at Demico's house and soon rised, supervisor, and branch manager for Arapaima and Forest Hills. In 1994, Irna migrated to the United States of America with her belated husband of 63 years, Godfrey Daniels. In the US, Irna and Godfrey lived with their eldest daughter Angela- Tiam-Fook (Daniels) and their grandchildren (Melissa and Sean Harry) in Long Island, New York, where she worked in the Home Healthcare Industry until retirement. Once retired, Irna and Godfrey moved to Jacksonville, NC, with their youngest daughter Hazel Banfield (Daniels), Husband Hayen Banfield, and grandchildren Josiah, Naomi, Sarai, and Sarah Banfield. One of the fondest memories of Irna and her sisters was when they used to live in Bartica. They had to wash laundry by the riverside, and they would all take a quick swim in the river, leaving the clothes to the mercy of the waves in the river. Thus, causing them to go diving in search of the missing clothes so they will not have to face their father's wrath. Irna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years, Godfrey Daniels, sisters, Polo Grant, Claudia Cheong-A-Shack, brothers Compton Grant, Denis Grant, William Grant, and Galton “Nicholas” Grant. Irna is survived by her sons, Bernard Daniels of Queens, NY, Stephen Daniels of United Kingdom, and David Daniels of Guyana; Daughters, Angela Tiam-A-Fook, of Bradenton, FL Lucinda Daniels of Brooklyn, NY, Hazel Banfield Jacksonville, NC. Grandmother of Melissa and Sean Harry, Aisha Daniels, Allana, and Alicia Joaquin, Kelicia, Keziah and Kadesh Daniels, Ouret Daniels, Josiah, Naomi, Sarai, and Sarah Banfield and great-granddaughter Nawla Williams. Daughter-in-law Jenny Minoo Daniels of United Kingdom and Son- in- Laws Walter Tiam-A-Fook of Bradenton, FL, and Hayen Banfield of Jacksonville, NC. Her Sisters, Leona Leow of Croydon, England, Juanita Cheong-A-Shack and husband Maurice of Brooklyn, NY, Clothel Grant of E. Sussex, England, Helena Welch of Charlotte, NC; and Lovella “ Mildred “ Fiedtikou and husband Cedric of Bayonne, NJ; in addition to many relatives and friends, here and abroad. Irna is at peace in heaven with her Lord and Saviour, and although she will be sadly missed, she will be forever in our hearts and minds. The viewing will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546. Dear cousins, the loss of uncle Danny and aunt Irna is deeply regrettable and i am completely saddened by their passing. I can't imagine the difficulty you must be going through because of this somber event, they were so loving, gentle and kind to everyone that met them, I remember as a kid whenever i visited, first they would ask was if they could get me something to eat or drink, I loved when your mom made me hot milo and she would pour it from one cup to another to cool it down. I know you all will miss them very much. When I find more photos of aunt Irna and uncle Danny I will send them over to you. I pray to YHWH for your comfort and your well-being as well as your speedy recovery from this devastating loss as you recall the words of our Lord and savior when he said = These things have I spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world, ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world. May God's will be done. Peace and love ❤

She treated me as a son and advise me of a good job opportunity at Campsite restaurant where I had work for a few years. She was my manager and I enjoyed working under her supervision. Myself and Irna grew up together i would go over to her home at her parents on Saturdays. Irna was like the sister I never had. As we grew older we all got married and started our new lives, we remained good friends. Later on in life we migrated to America lived in different states but still remain good friends and kept in touch with each other. Irna, you will be missed my dear friend. Rest In Peace. Your dear friend Esther
