Obituary For James Albert Newbold
James Albert Newbold, 69 of Jacksonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, August 11, 2022. James was born in Jacksonville, NC on February 13, 1953 to the late Carl Haywood and Mary Alice Lee Newbold. Also, preceding James in death were two brothers, George Bryant Newbold and Carl “Bud” Haywood Newbold, Jr.
Surviving James is his loving and faithful wife of 29 years, Kristine Birch Newbold; son, Nicholas Albert Newbold and wife, Allyson, of Hanover, PA; daughter, Meredith Alice Newbold, of Richlands, NC; brother, Alton Ray Newbold and wife, LuAnn, of Jacksonville, NC; sister, Alice Elizabeth Buehler and husband, Conrad, of Norfolk, VA; grandson, Brennan Albert Newbold, of Hanover, PA and sisters-in-law, Helen Shivar Newbold and Hilary Taylor Waller, both of Richlands, NC.
James was a kind and caring man that adored his family. He was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints where he proudly served as Ward Financial Clerk for 26 years. James also served his country for more than 40 years. He served in the United States Army from 1974-1978, then as a Reservist from 1978-1982, then home to work as a Civil Service Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator on Camp Lejeune until his passing. James met the love of his life, Kristine when he was 40 years old and they were married at the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on June 24, 1993. He loved fishing, shrimping, hunting, guitar, gardening and cooking. We are comforted knowing that James is at peace and has returned to his heavenly home to be with our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 300 Brynn Marr Road, Jacksonville, NC 28546 on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 12:00pm. A Committal Service will follow on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00pm at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Montford Point Road, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546.
