SFC John P. Reed, Ret., 78 of Swansboro, passed away Saturday morning at his residence. John was not only a devoted soldier serving 2 tours in Vietnam, but he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
A service celebrating John's life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Thursday, Feb. 2nd at 7 PM with Chaplain Mike Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM, 2 hours prior to the service.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife Sieglinde Hinrichsen Reed, daughters Sarah Ann Lane and Lillian Jean Wilson, son Johannes "Joe" M. Wood, parents John G. and Charlotte Puskas Reed, sisters Mary Muller and Cathy Reed, and brothers Michael Reed and Gary Reed. He is survived by his brother Bobby Reed and wife Vicky of FL; sisters Margie Caldwell and husband Mike of Swansboro and Michelle Burke and husband Steve of Barnegat, NJ; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Museum of the Marine, Wounded Warriors, or Main St. Charity of Jacksonville, NC
