Obituary For Martha Way Melts

Martha L. Way Melts, 94, formerly of Jacksonville, NC and beloved wife of the late Milton Melts, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Mrs. Melts was born April 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Rev. William Armstead Way and the late Mary "Mamie" Cox Way. For many years, Mrs. Melts worked along side her husband in the family dry cleaning business and was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wilmington.
Mrs. Melts loved playing the piano with her husband alternating between the piano and organ. She continued playing the piano 3 weeks prior to her passing. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. She was known for her infectious smile and generosity. She loved bridge, travel and bingo. Mrs. Melts was always on the go.
Martha is survived by her son, Milton "Larry" Melts of Las Vegas, NV; her daughters, Victoria “Vicky” Stephens of Belville (Ron) and Demetra "Demie" Cox of Jacksonville; her grandchildren, Cambria, Justin (Andrea), and Epiphany; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Way, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, her husband Milton, and her youngest son Gus Dino, she was preceded in death by her 8 siblings; Huldah Way Layne, Roy Talbert Way, Esther Way Gilbreath, Ruth Way Lawrence, William A. Way, Jr., Grace Way Kenyon, Dorothy Way Thomas, John Robert Way.
Visitation for Martha will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, with the Trisagion beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Father Steven Klund and the Rev. Father Regis Alexoudis officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park at 3 p.m. Gifts in her memory may be sent to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 608 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403.
