Mary Ellen (Batchelor) Pearce of Richlands departed this life peaceful at home January 6, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 with visitation starting at 12pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Richlands with Rev. Anthony Davis officiating. Graveside services will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Pearce; parents, Elec and Dora Batchelor; brother, L.J. Batchelor; and granddaughter, Amanda Brianna Layne Hoffman.

She is survived by her siblings, Alice Orr, and Annie Watkins (John); sister-in-law, Inez Batchelor; children, Randall Pearce (Kathleen), Patsy Hoffman (Ricky), and Beverly Morton (Jay); grandchildren, Kelvin Pearce, Kenneth Pearce (Shannon), Richard Hoffman (Angela), Erica Robinson (Thomas), and Tristan Morton; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Sara), Austin, Jordan, Kelsey (Mark), Ashley, Kaitlyn, Michaela, Cameron, Dylan, and Katie; great-great-grandchildren, Luke, Avery, Maddie, and Carson; many special nieces and nephews; and an incredibly special caregiver, Lou Hoffman, that was like a daughter. She loved her family dearly as they loved her.

Some of her favorite pastimes were to feed the Birds & Squirrels in her back yard and to listen to Bluegrass Gospel music.
