Obituary For Mary Martel Futral

Richlands, NC

Mary Martel Futral passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2021, after a long illness. A native of Beaumont, TX, Mary was born January 8, 1944 to Agatha and Grady Martel and married Lewis Alton Futral in 1968, where their combined families traveled while he was in the US Navy. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, and her children, Carl and Darlene.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and ran her own flower shop, “Mary’s Basket Case”, for many years. She was a member of First Christian Church for many years, until her health prevented it.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in Richlands with Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiating. She will be buried next to her husband at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville. Online condolences may be made at www.johnsonfhnc.com.

Mary leaves behind her children, Earl (Mari), Dennis, and Mark; along with her eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her three brothers in Nome, TX.

Johnson Funeral Home, Richlands is entrusted with the Futral Family.

So sorry to see that "Nana" passed away. She was a great mother-in-law to me & Nana to my daughter while I was married to her son, she was a mess to say the least & I've missed our visits over the past few years. Both she & Alton always treated us like family, God rest her soul.
