R. Carroll Beaty (Carroll) (84) rejoined his wife Margaret after twenty-two months on theafternoon of April 11, 2022. Carroll died comfortably in the hospital with family present at his bedside. Carroll was a devoted husband and father to his three children and an active Christian man serving in the church (Richlands United Methodist Church and previously Millbrook Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC) as well as throughout the community. Carroll was a kind-hearted man who truly loved people and wanted to serve. Over his life Carroll has touched and helped many, from kids he coached in sports and scouts to community members that needed a helping hand. Carroll was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and one daughter-in-law, Glenda. He is survived by his three sons, Mark, Braven, and Myron; two daughters-in-law, Laura and Alisa; three grandchildren, Jared, Caroline, and Ava; and one great grandchild, Harper. Although sorry for his loss, we celebrate Carroll’s life that will carry on in all those he has touched. Carroll spent his career as a mechanical engineer in both the private sector and university extension functions, priding himself on his early work related to the lunar space missions. Carroll attended Duke University on scholarship, graduating in 1958 and becoming a first-generation college graduate. He subsequently attended UCLA on a work/study cooperative program to complete his Masters of Engineering degree.A visitation open to the public will be at Richlands United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 22nd at 2:15pm, following will be a Funeral Service at 3:00pm. A Graveside Service will be the following Monday, May 23rd at 3:00pm at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville, NC.In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that contributions be made to the Richlands United Methodist Church bell tower fund.
