Obituary For Robert Charles Seavey

Robert “Bob” Seavey went to his Heavenly home to be with his beloved wife in the early hours of May 5th with his Daughter and Son in Law at his side.

Bob joined the Marine Corps at just 17years old and completed 4 tours in Vietnam taking part in several intense conflicts. After a full active duty career and suffering a heart attack Bob continued to serve his country by transferring to a civil service position most of which was fulfilled at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH as a Nuclear instructor. Once retired from his military and civil service career Bob relocated back to Onslow County with his family. He may have been born and raised in Maine but after being stationed at Camp Lejeune he was proud to call Onslow County home. It was then his love for cars and motorcycles that allowed him to continue working with local businesses to stay active and enjoy his hobbies such as drag racing. With continued chronic health complications he eventually slowed down and then began volunteering for the New River Foundation and Bold of Jacksonville next to his late wife Betty. He also served on the board for ONWASA. He was one to never fully understand the meaning of “Retirement”. When he finally began to accept his retirement he continued to travel and spend summers in Maine visiting family and friends while enjoying the Vacationland and local casino!

Bob definitely lived a full life personally and professionally. He was a Father to 5 children of his own and took in many of their friends along the way. He was Dad, Pops, PapaBear, Uncle Bobby, and his favorite title Grampy to many! His presence will be missed beyond measure and his shoes will never be filled by another.

Bob was a man of honor and respected by many. Enough can not be said about this Marine and all that he did for his Country and Community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Maurice DiSanto of Gorham Maine, his beautiful wife Betty Sanders-Seavey of Jacksonville, NC and his oldest Son Dean Seavey of Westbrook, ME. Bob leaves behind his Daughter Natasha and husband Jacob Gentry of Jacksonville, NC; Son Ryan Seavey of Little River, SC; Son Brian Seavey and wife Lisa of Port St. Lucie, FL; Daughter Jolene and husband Enrique Carmona of Fort Pierce, FL; honorary children Allan Meloni, Ally Holman, and Jackie Jackson; as well as many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements have been provided by Johnson’s funeral home in Jacksonville. Graveside services will be at Coastal Carolina State Veteran Cemetery 5/17/23 at 12:00 pm. Procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home 2685 Henderson Dr. in Jacksonville, NC.

The family invites those who knew Bob to join them for a Celebration of a life at the VFW on Piney Green Rd, Jacksonville following services.

Tash and Ryan, so sorry about your dad. We had fun and some good laughs over the years and will miss his summer visits. He was a strong, determined and optimistic man and survived things no one else would have. He and Doug talked a lot about the service and Vietnam. We loved him. Love, susie and Doug Holmes
