Richlands, NC ~ Robert Eugene "Capt. Bob" Massie, 87, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his home. He was the son of Charles and Garnette Flannery Massie, born on August 4, 1934 in Seville, OH. Sadly, Capt. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Yukie Hasegawa Massie; his son, Robert Austin "Bobby" Massie, and his brothers, Charles Austin, James Edward, Roy Chilton, Dale Dean, Dwain Dorran "Baldy" Massie; sister-in-laws Joanne Cohen, Karen Carnifax and brother-in-law Richard Wyant.

Capt. Bob was a retired USMC veteran of Viet Nam, and lived for many years in Richlands, NC after moving here from Wayne County, OH. He was a spit-fire who shared his opinion and would let you know he would be praying for you. In later years, he could be found around town on his motorized scooter with the USMC and American flags. He may have had a gruff exterior, but he loved God, country, and children.

Bob is survived by his sister, Winnifred "Winnie" Massie Wyant, of Sterling, OH; his grandsons, Dane, Brandon, and Stefan Massie, their mother, Sandy Goodman Massie; sister-in-laws Gail Massie, Pat Massie, Rose Kessinger and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob's family in Ohio would like to thank Bob's special friends in Richlands who took good care of Bob and helped him in various ways. Those friends were Larry and Marilyn Parker, Mamie Gavarrete, Wanda Barbee and Peggy Sue Couler.
