Ronald Ross Chalkley, 65, of Jacksonville, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 9, 2022 after battling cancer. He was born on October 2, 1956, to the late Marion Hatcher and Lucille Rice Chalkley in Norfolk, VA. Surviving Ronnie are 2 sisters, Louise R. Chalkley of Durham, NC and Susan Newkirk of Pensacola Beach, FL; Nephew, Harry Ervin Newkirk IV; 2 nieces, Stephanie Nicole “Nikki” Levai and Christine “Christy” R. Newkirk and 5 great nieces and nephews.Ronnie was a very sweet, kind and gentle man that adored his family. He was loving and humble. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and went on to Coastal Carolina Community College where he earned an Associates Degree. Although, his career was in electronics, he was also very skilled at plumbing, carpentry and auto mechanics. Ronnie was so talented that if he walked into a jungle with 2 toothpicks and he would figure out how to build a shopping mall. Ronnie had been employed at Stereo World and Furniture Fair. He was an avid gardener and wine maker.It gives us peace knowing Ronnie is in heaven with his heavenly Father. He will be dearly missed, but in our hearts forever.Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546 followed by a funeral service at 6:00pm.
