Thomas “Tom” Gaetano Rizzi, 78, of Maysville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023. Born on March 2, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Frank and Marie Rizzi.

Tom is survived by his daughter; Lisa M Kellum, husband Ernie Kellum and their children; Dina M. VonNordheim, Tori R. Kellum, Jaiden M. Kellum, and Thomas G. Kellum. He is also survived by his great grandson; Brayden L. VonNordheim.

Tom proudly served in the United States Marine Corps 20+ years before retiring as a First Sergeant (E-8) in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Tom received several decorations and medals during his time in service; Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.

After his service in the United States Marine Corps, Tom opened a video rental store called Video Bug. The store was open for over 20 years until Tom decided to close in 2009 and enjoy his retirement.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 at 11AM at Johnson Funeral Chapel, 2685 Henderson Drive, followed by a funeral service at 1PM with a US Navy Chaplain officiating. Interment with USMC Military Honors will be at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 2PM in Jacksonville, NC.
