Obituary For Victoria Catherine Coan

Victoria Catherine Coan 67, passed away unexpectedly Friday July 1, 2022. Vikki
was born on December 10, 1954, in Roanoke, Virginia to Ella Mae Russell and
Walter James Goodrich Sr. both have proceeded her in death. She was also
proceeded in death by her aunt Mary Lee Blair.
Left to mourn her passing are brothers Walter James Goodrich Jr. and wife Angie,
Rodney Goodrich and wife Lisa. Sister Donna Goodrich. She will be missed by a
host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Vikki retired from the U. S. Marines after achieving the rank of Sergeant and was
one of few black, female drill sergeants at that time. She had recently retired from
her accounting position at Camp Lejeune Military Base where she had worked for
many years.
She had many friends and acquaintances that she adored and cherished. Vikki
enjoyed spending time with friends and family reminiscing about the past. She
had many hobbies that she enjoyed such as crafts, ceramics, cooking and sewing.
Her memory will be cherished by all that knew her.
Service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive in Jacksonville, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 , at 1 pm.
Family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

    I had the pleasure of serving with Cpl Goodrich (Goody) while Drill Instructors at MCRD Parris Island. She had such a wonderful personality and a smile that lit up a room. And on top of all that she was one fine Marine. Rest In Peace my friend.

    As a Corporal, Victoria Goodrich arrived a Parris Island and immediately became a valued member of our Recruit Company family. Please know that so many of us who worked with her...as well as the many recruits she trained...mourn with you. She was one fine Marine!

    Please accept my condolences on your loss. I worked with Ms Coan in the late 80s at Camp Johnson. She was well respected in her field and a great person. I'm sure her loss creates a large void for the family.
